Message From Paster Jeff
Waterbrook News for Mother’s Day Weekend
I called my mother yesterday. I know it’s a little early for Mother’s Day. I wanted to let her know I had purchased her Mother’s Day gift over a week before Mother’s Day to assure it would arrive at her door by Mother’s Day. That gift is still sitting on the desk of my home office. I let mom know I blame my wife for that gift not yet being sent. I bought it while my wife was out of town last week. Usually, she would take the gift right in the store after the purchase and do whatever magic she does to see those gifts get to their intended recipient. I was so proud of myself at getting this purchase taken care of without her assistance. I texted her to let her know I had already purchased gifts for both herself and my mother. I should get some kind of award for giving thought to it and getting it done without her help…in advance. My mom understood. She knows me. She raised me. She also knows what a great daughter-in-law she has. So, I promised mom she’d have her gift by Nascar Day, May 18th (http://foundation.nascar.com/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?&pid=183&srcid=183) or for International Tiara Day on May 24th (https://www.facebook.com/pages/International-Tiara-Day/178130348893480).
If you like to pick on your mom or you laugh at your mom or you are a mom and like to laugh, here’s a video clip by Chonda Pierce about her momma. à http://youtu.be/38VtyrJLTfk
THIS SUNDAY AT WATERBROOK
We’ll be offering the Membership Class (part 1) this Sunday during the 9:30 hour. If you’re interested in learning more about Waterbrook and what we believe, this is a great class to visit. The class will be taught this week by Dave Burchett and will meet in the Conference Room in the 507 building.
Pastor Don Moore has been at the Catalyst Conference this week. I know he’s been blessed right out of his socks because I’ve been able to watch a couple of the sessions online and have texted with him. Be sure to ask him what he picked up spiritually at the conference. He’s excited to get back and worship with the Waterbrook family after these amazing couple of days. I know he’s got some special treats planned for this Sunday’s worship services. One is the Child Dedication portion of the service. We’ll have kids in each service. He’s also reaching back to a powerful worship classic by Bill & Gloria Gaither, “Because He Lives.” I’ve been singing this song all week just thinking about it. It’s your worship rehearsal song for this weekend, and I’ve got two versions of the song from which you can pick. If you’re a David Crowder Band fan, there’s a live version for this year’s Passion conference. If you’re an old school Gaither fan, I’ve got another link that’ll give you chills if you turn up the speakers and let ‘er roll. Here are those links…

I have a special message this Sunday for Mother’s Day. I’m going to be sharing about “The Woman you want to Fight For and the Woman you want to Fight With!” Never underestimate the power of a good woman…or a good country friend steak. You’ll have to be at Waterbrook Sunday morning to find out what this is all about.
Since it is Mother’s Day, we have a special gift for all women at the services this Sunday. We recognize all women are important in the family of God. Some of you are biological mothers who have or are raising children to love the Lord. We also acknowledge that all ladies have the potential to be “spiritual mothers” to many. I could name several important women who have played that roll in my life. We have a special gift this Sunday for you all we hope will make it a little easier to carry your burdens.
MEN’S NIGHT OUT NEXT WEDNESDAY
What do men’s relationships have to do with ice cream? You’ll have to join us Wednesday, May 16, at 7:00 pm in the Fireplace Room at the 507 Ministry Center to discover the connection. Feel free to bring a friend. Here’s a link in case you want to post in online or email it as an invitation to a friend. http://www.waterbrook.org/mens-night-out-may-16th/
28:19 DESSERT THEATER – NEXT THURSDAY at 7:00 pm
It’s going to be a great night of fun. Even more important, it’s going to be a fantastic evening to raise funds for summer mission trips. This is a fun night for the entire family and to bring some friends. Tickets are $10 and available in the lobby this Sunday. Remember that ticket price is really a donation to missions. There’ll also be a silent auction and offering taken that night. Here’s the online link. à http://www.waterbrook.org/comedy-dessert-event-to-raise-funds-for-summer-missions/

SUMMER CAMP
If you have a child in 1st through 6th grade and are considering summer camp this year, Pastor Don has worked with First Baptist Wylie so that Waterbrook kids can attend the FBC camp this summer. I’ve only heard good things about this camp, and recommend it as an option to those looking for a camp experience. Here’s a link with more information. à http://www.fbwkidscamp.com/home.php
Now, I wonder if I can get a package sent overnight to my mom?
Looking forward to worshiping with you this Sunday at Waterbrook Bible Fellowship!
Jeff
