The Rush – High School Student Ministry
RUSH is our ministry for high school students (9th-12th grades). RUSH meets Sunday mornings during the 10:55 session in the 100 Building Rush Room. These classes are open to all high school students and are taught by Michael & Kati Lusk. Sunday morning class times are often divided into guys and girls classes. Discussion, talk about the week, prayer and Bible study are all part of the Sunday morning classes for students.
RUSH also meets Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the Waterbrook 100 Building. Wednesday nights are a blend of crazy games, group discussion and topical biblical teaching. Wednesday nights are typically led by Rush director, Odie Hume. (This group does not meet on the last Wednesday of each month.)

RUSH typically hosts a discipleship retreat weekend in the spring and leads a week of mission work in the summer. The summer mission trip in recent years has been held locally in Dallas where our students provide a VBS and ESL classes for first-generation refugee children. This has given our students the opportunity to expand their heart for missions by working with first generation immigrants in a cross-cultural setting, including language translation and proverty-level needs. Our leadership team continues to expand this ministry opportunity for our students. Our high school students are key to the Waterbrook family and serve in a variety of roles including worship band, greeters, ushers, Splash ministry, Preschool & Nursery ministries, and more. Our RUSH ministry also has it’s own worship band made up completely of students. This bad typically leads a midweek worship service from 7:00-7:30 pm in the auditorium. This worship time is open for anyone to attend.
As you know, the Rush Leadership tries their very best to communicate to Parents and Students all of the details for our events and activities as best we can. We ask that you do your very best to communicate with us by responding to our e-mails promptly, accepting/declining invitations on Facebook and replying to text messages when you receive them. This helps us with planning and budgeting and keeps the stress levels of the Leaders down. All of the Rush leaders work regular jobs every day and we need your help to make sure planning for this ministry is done in the most efficient way. We thank you in advance for your help!

Medical Release Form (MRF) – Provides us with important information regarding insurance, allergies and medications that your child takes and provides other important information needed to ensure that your child is safe and we are able to act quickly should there be an accident or emergency. This form is a must for any student participating in any event with The Rush.
Student Driver Permission Slip – From time to time we will allow students to drive to/from a Rush event or driving will occur during an event. This form provides permission from the parent for your student to drive their own vehicle. If your student is under the age of 18 and wants to be able to drive to/from any of our events (or during an event) we must have this form on file. This form also includes permission for your student driver to have other students in their vehicle with them. If you (the parent) DO NOT want your child to have other students in the car please let us know by circling ‘No’ after the statement. If your answer to that question is ‘Yes’ we will also need to know how many students are allowed to be in your students vehicle with them. We are aware that there are restrictions and guidelines from the State of Texas and want to be in compliance with not only your rules but the State’s. We will not allow ANY student to have another student in the car with them if that part of the form is not filled out.
Student Rider Permission Slip - This form will give permission for your student to RIDE with another student. If you DO NOT want your student in a car with a student driver you can ignore this form. You (the parent) can let the Rush Leaders know specific student drivers that you will allow your student to ride with or, if you do not have restrictions on who they may ride with, you can let us know by circling ‘yes’ or ‘no’ where indicated.

December 14th – Progressive Dinner and White Elephant Gift Exchange -
We will meet at the church at 5:30p and shuttle to our host homes for our meal! Students can be picked up at the last house or will be returned to the church parking lot by 9:45pm.
Cost for this event is $10 and you will need to bring a white elephant gift to exchange – you can spend $1 to $15 on your gift. Invite friends! This event is posted on facebook…please rsvp as soon as possible and invite your friends as well!
January 18th – Shenaniganz -
We’re headed to Rockwall for bowling, laser tag and Go Karts! We will meet at the church at 3:15 (our time at Shenaniganz starts at 4:00pm) and return around 7pm.
Cost for this event is $25 – cost includes bowling (with shoes), laser tag, go karts, pizza and drinks! Watch for the event to be posted on facebook and reply asap!
February 14-16 – Winter Retreat -
We will be going to Camp Copass outside of Denton, TX – We will have a weekend of small and large group sessions, ropes course and other fun activities. We hope that you will join us for a great weekend of growing and learning!

March 22nd – Drive-In Movie -
We hope to head to Ennis for fun at the Drive-in! If there are no movie playing that are appropriate or interesting we will make our own drive-in! As we get closer to this event we will have more details!

April 12th – Girls / Guys Night Out -
We don’t know what we will be doing but we know we want to involve our Moms and Dads! Be on the look out for details about what we want to do and, parents, plan on joining us!
May 3rd – Rush Banquet -
One of our most anticipated events of the year! Please put it on your calendar NOW! This is a wonderful night to celebrate our students and honor our graduates. We serve up a great dinner and it’s a reallly fun evening!
SENIORS/SENIOR PARENTS – please let us know if there is a conflict so that we can look at other dates now – don’t wait until the last minute!
Cost for this event is $15 per student. Seniors and their parents are free, we also extend an invitation to seniors family members, cost for each family member is $15.

Mission Wylie – July 13-19, 2014
A week for students to minister to local kids! We want as many of our students to be able to experience this fantastic week of ministry! Be sure to sign up early as we do have limited space available at the lodge. We will begin training and prep work in June. Be thinking about what team you want to serve on and start praying now for God to move in you and in the children and families we will be working with! Cost TBD.
