The Wave (6th-8th Grades)

The Wave ministry at Waterbrook is a group of 6th – 8th graders who meet in the WAVE room at the Waterbrook 507 Ministry Center. We meet during the second service, with a start time of 10:55. The Wave leadership consists of Jerry & Trona Jurden, Alan Greenwood, Chad and Melissa McKay.

For fun and fellowship we meet at the 507 Ministry center on the third Wednesday of most every month 7:00-8:30 for food, games, and activities. And if that’s not enough fun for you, we also meet on the first Sunday of most months to enjoy a Pizza lunch at the Jurden’s immediately after church until 2:30pm.

Some of our favorite Wave traditions are the Superstart (4-6 grade) & Believe conferences (7& 8 grade). Each is a high energy weekend event designed for the specific age group. Check out those ministries at Christ for Youth web site. There are times of corporate worship, Bible study, small group discussions, and lots of time for running around having fun playing.

You can find great information and lots of photos of our WAVE activities on our Wave Facebook page.

We are in the middle of a curriculum from Kurt Johnston of Simply Youth Ministry called “Jr. High Live” which is designed to dig into the Bible and put a practical, relevant face on deep biblical truths. WAVE will touch on a range of topics relevant to the pre-teen and early teen years, such as changes, stewardship, serving, love, and family. We will see what the Bible has to say about these and many other topics. Through the study the students’ relationships, discussions, and interactions are paramount as we study God’s word. We play games and watch video clips as they relate to our weekly lessons. Our January Studies are My Changes & Just like Jesus. Our February topics are Identity, Discovering Who God Created ME to Be & Pain & Struggles.

JanuaryMy Changes Physical Change (Psalm 139:13-16) & Emotional Change (Hebrews 4:14-16) & Spiritual Change (Ephesians 4:14-15)

JanuaryJust Like Jesus Choosing Our Ultimate Role Model (John 14:1-17) Representing Jesus Every Day (2 Corinthians 5:15-21)
