Special Weekend in our Splash Ministry as Kids get Bible and Sports!
We’re looking forward to having our global mission staff members Stef & Christy [Johnson] van Meerveld with us this weekend to share a bible lesson and some soccer skills with our kids during both Sunday morning ministry hours.

Splash is for kids from Kindergarten through 4th grades and meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 10:55 a.m. All children in this age group are welcome to attend Splash during either or both sessions. This week students should come wearing clothing appropriate for sports activity and playing in the 200 Building field during part of the hour. They will learn beginner (and more advanced as applicable) soccer skills. It promises to be a fun and exciting morning with this husband and wife soccer duo!

Stef van Meerveld grew up in the Netherlands. Competed at the semi-professional level both in soccer and futsal and has coached youth and adults in Europe, Asia and USA from grassroots to national team level.  He holds licenses with NSCAA Advanced National, USSF B, KNVB UEFA B and Futsal III. He and his wife, Christy have three children.

Christy was born in Loma Linda California, but spent the majority of her childhood in Dallas (TX). She is a four-year letter winner and was one of the pillars of the program during the early years of University of North Texas women’s soccer and inducted into the Hall of Fame. She continued playing in the W-league which was the highest level for women’s soccer at the time.

Christy is also daughter of Waterbrook members Stan (deceased) and Nancy Johnson. Christy and Stef are mission-supported by the Waterbrook family.
