Our Story

In June of 2004, Dave and Joni Burchett, Nelson and Suzie Tull and Don and Cindy Moore began dreaming of planting a church after several of them had attended a church conference at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. They met together to plan, dream and mostly pray throughout the summer.

First Public Bible Study…
We knew that God had something special in mind when, on a hot August, Sunday night, 95 people showed up for a Bible study in the Burchett home. Dr. Stephen Bramer, professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, joined our pastoral team at Teaching Pastor.

Getting Started…
We quickly moved to Sunbelt Pools in the second week; walls were torn down to make room for more and then we went to two services a few weeks afterward. We began to encourage the body to attend one service and serve in the other one.

Moved to Wylie…
In May of 2005, God opened the doors to begin meeting in Wylie at Dodd Elementary School. With a committed crew setting up and tearing down each week, we are a growing family of faith, passionately committed to the same mission and values that originally drew us together.

New Lead Pastor & Property…
In November 2008 Jeff Denton came to Waterbrook as our Lead Pastor. He moved his wife, Deana, and two kids into Wylie, after nearly 20 years of pastoral ministry in Chicago. A year later the church took action to purchase a little over 4 acres on Thomas Street. A house on the property, which had been built by Wylie longtime physician Dr. Trimble, was rehabbed and turned into office and ministry space. Our offices moved into the new 507 Ministry Center in February 2010.

Our New Home…
A groundbreaking was held in August 2010 for a new building to house an auditorium and children’s ministry space on the Thomas Street property. The congregation continued meeting for Sunday worship at Dodd Elementary School. After 23 weeks of construction, Waterbrook Bible Fellowship moved into our own facility for Sunday worship and classes at 507 Thomas Street in Wylie, Texas, on Sunday, January 30, 2011. The new building, called the “100 Building” is located just south of the 507 Ministry Center & Offices, and includes a 100 space parking lot. We thank God for all the blessings He’s given us and continue pressing forward in serving the people of Wylie, the greater Metroplex, and beyond. God is great!
